About the Rear-Leg Support Harness
An Oxford-fabric rear-leg support harness listed for assisted mobility. Before ordering, confirm the selected model’s adjustment range, intended support area and manufacturer’s instructions with PawFurvia.
Fit & sizing
The listing describes this model for medium and large dogs, but a breed or size label is not a verified fit. Ask for the specific measurements and adjustment limits before choosing. Do not infer a load rating or lifting method from a product photo.
Materials & care
Listed material: Oxford fabric. Listed care: wipe clean with a damp cloth and air dry. Follow any additional manufacturer instructions supplied with your selected option.
Questions to ask before buying rear-support gear
- Which part of the body is this model intended to support?
- What are the exact adjustment limits and rated uses?
- How does the manufacturer instruct the user to fit it and provide assistance?
- Is a separate walking harness or leash attachment required?
Is this the right support for my dog?
For a dog with weakness, pain or a recovery plan, ask your veterinarian which type of support is appropriate. This product listing cannot determine the cause of a mobility problem or replace an individual care plan.
Can I use an ordinary walking-harness handle instead?
Do not assume a handle is intended for lifting. Walking equipment and mobility-support equipment have different intended uses; follow the exact manufacturer’s instructions.
Where can I confirm the missing information?
Email [email protected] with the product name, your measurements and the support your veterinarian recommends. We have not added an unverified load limit or lifting procedure.
Shipping & returns
See our shipping policy and return eligibility and costs before ordering.
For general measurement preparation, read our measuring guide; this does not replace the support harness’s own fitting instructions.

Canine rear harness: when it helps and how to use it
A rear harness sits around the hips and back legs and gives you a handle to take some of your dog's weight. It helps when the back end is the weak point — older dogs with stiff hips, dogs recovering on their vet's advice, or dogs that struggle with stairs, car entries and slippery floors. The front legs keep working normally, so most dogs walk more naturally than in a sling.
Rear harness, full-body harness or sling?
| Type | Supports | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rear-leg support harness (this one) | Hips and back legs | Weak back legs, stairs, getting into the car | No front support; pair with a normal harness for the leash |
| Full-body lift harness | Front and rear | Dogs weak at both ends | Bulkier, more straps to fit |
| Belly sling | Under the abdomen | Short-term help, quick toilet trips | You must hold it the whole time; can slide |
| Assisted walking harness | Chest and body, with handle | Daily mobility, steadying on walks | Less lift under the hips |
How to fit and use it
- Loosen the straps and slide the leg loops on from behind while your dog stands.
- Tighten evenly until two fingers fit under each strap and nothing presses on the genitals or belly.
- Lift slowly and in time with your dog's steps — support, don't carry.
- Start with short sessions and check the skin under the straps afterwards.
- Take it off for rest and sleep, and let it dry fully if it gets wet.
Signs your dog may benefit
- Back legs slipping on smooth floors or crossing over while walking.
- Hesitating at stairs or the car, or sitting down mid-walk.
- Needing a push to stand up after resting.
A support harness is a mobility aid, not a medical device or treatment. If weakness is new, sudden or getting worse, see your vet before increasing exercise.

Rear support harness FAQ
Can a harness help my dog walk again?
A rear harness does not treat the cause of weakness, but it can make walking safer and less tiring by taking part of the weight off the back legs. Ask your vet how much activity is right for your dog.
Can my dog wear a rear support harness all day?
Use it for walks, stairs and car trips, then remove it so the skin can breathe. Check under the straps for rubbing every day.
Do I still need a regular harness?
Usually yes. Clip the leash to a normal harness or collar and use the rear harness only for lifting and steadying.
