A slip rope leash combines the collar and leash in one loop, so you can put it on and take it off in seconds. It is popular for quick trips outside, vet visits, moving dogs between car and house, and for dogs that are used to slip leads.

How to fit a slip leash

• Form the loop so it tightens when pulled and loosens when relaxed.
• Place it high on the neck, just behind the ears, for better control.
• Leave enough room to fit two fingers when the leash is slack.

Good to know

Slip leashes tighten under pressure, so they are best for short, supervised walks and dogs that do not pull hard. For strong pullers, a harness is a kinder option.
